Spa Cure

The right to health spa curative treatment is defined in Article no.45 of Pravil obveznega zdravstvenega zavarovanja . Insured persons can be entitled to health spa medical treatment on the basis of a recommendation by their personal doctor or specialist in cases when treatment in a natural spa anticipates:

• Substantial improvement of the state of health for a longer time
• return of functional and working abilities
• prevention of progress of an illness or worsening of state of health for a longer time
• reduce frequency of absence from work due to illness or medical treatment in hospital.

Health spa treatment as a rule lasts 14 days and is carried out in a defined period without interruption. By way of exception an appointed doctor can, on the basis of a recommendation by the health spa doctor, extend the spa treatment up to 28 days, if perceptibly better rehabilitation results can be expected.

An insured person can claim his or her right to health spa treatment for the same illness, that is the same state respectively, once every two years and has within the frame of that treatment the right to the kind and extent of services, which are defined by the appointed doctor in accordance with specially agreed standards for individual states of illness.

• type 1 – inflamed rheumatic diseases
• type 2 – degenerative non-joint rheumatism
• type 3 – state after injury or operations on the locomotive system with functional affects
• type 4 – neurological disease, injury and disease of the central and peripheral nerve system, including cerebral vascular intervention and nerve-muscle diseases
• type 6 – gynaecological diseases – state after breast operations and on pelvis.

• Personal doctor or specialist who determines a patient's need for health spa treatment sends a recommendation to the appointed doctor at the ZZZS for approval.
• The appointed doctor refers the insured person to a health spa with a referral order, which is chosen by the insured person and which is qualified for the defined standard.
• When the Laško Health Spa receives such a referral order, we invite the insured person to the spa for medical treatment in accordance with Pravili obveznega zdravstvenega zavarovanja . The regulation in Article no. 110 defines that the standard of accommodation and board during health spa medical treatment is accommodation in a twin or more bedded room with nutrition, to the amount for non-medical part of the stay is defined by the Health Service. The health spa is obliged to enable the insured person to have standard accommodation and board. In the case that the insured person agrees or wishes for a higher standard, they are obliged to pay the difference in price

• stationary health spa medical treatment (the insurance company in accordance with the insured person's insurance covers the costs of accommodation, medical care and medical services with natural factors)
• out-patients' clinic health spa medical treatment (the insurance company in accordance with the insured person's insurance covers the expenses of medical services with natural factors)

The Laško Thermal Spa Resort carries out physiotherapy services in a clinic for the local and wider region on the basis of a referral order from the patient's personal doctor . On the basis of a physical examination carried out by a specialist urgent cases are given priority.

Rehabilitation is intended for guests who wish to preserve their psychophysical aptness, improve organism resistance and prevent long lasting standing maladies from worsening.

In the Laško spa we implement rehabilitation according to contracts with institutions for persons:

• after recovery from a stroke and paralysis
