Ayurveda & Yoga

Ayurveda is a system of traditional medicine that originated in India. It treats people holistically, teaches them how to live in harmony with nature, and helps them live a healthy life.

It covers all aspects of health, promoting physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. It explains how our thoughts, diet and lifestyle affect our physical condition.

About Ayurveda

Modern man is weighed down by more and more health problems, inconveniences, and diseases. In taking care of our health and well-being, we are increasingly turning to ancient traditional methods that, despite the past millennia, have retained their healing properties.

Eastern wisdom is gaining more and more influence in the Western world. Among them is Ayurveda, which has already helped many with its comprehensive approach to health.

What is Ayurveda?

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a traditional medicine, which originates from India. The word ayurveda is composed of the word "ayus" which means "life" and "veda" which means "knowledge", "science". Ayurveda or the "science of life" treats man holistically and teaches him to live healthily and in harmony with nature.

It covers the four aspects of man: soul, mind, emotions and body. Throughout history, Ayurveda has remained an influential health system in South Asia. The basic principles of Ayurveda are based on the universal laws of nature and the mutual interaction of man and nature, which is why they have been the same throughout the millennia.

The Ayurvedic way of life consists of a certain diet, regular and moderate exercise (yoga), meditation, relaxation, breathing exercises and other techniques that should help a person harmonize mind, body and spirit.

Ayurveda is based on three fundamental principles called doshas. Vata, pitta and kapha are the main elements of the body on which our health depends.

They are present in every cell, and they also make up our psychological well-being, ways of communication and perception of the world. In a literal translation, they mean air, bile and phlegm, but in a broader sense it is:

Depending on the dominant dosha, different body types are known (vata type, pita-kapha type, etc.). When the doshas are out of balance, inconvenience, discomfort or illness can occur, but when the doshas are "in relationship" - in harmony, a person is healthy.

Ayurvedic diet

Ayurveda diet in Thermana Lasko

According to Ayurvedic tradition, in addition to what we consume, how we consume it is also very important. While eating, we often think about problems and obligations, so our digestive energy is directed elsewhere.

Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of proper digestion and this is the source of health. A true Ayurvedic balanced meal is enriched with herbs and spices that improve taste, stimulate the digestive fire, improve digestibility and absorption of ingredients.

With the correct combination, amount of food and certain parts of the day when food is consumed, we can maintain internal balance or even correct the imbalance that occurred during the period when we lived unhealthy.

Ayurvedic yoga

Yoga is also inseparably connected with Ayurveda. Yoga means "oneness", it is the science of life and the oldest system of comprehensive personal development, which includes body, mind and soul.

It is based on five fundamental principles: proper exercise, proper breathing, proper relaxation, proper nutrition, and positive thinking and meditation.

Yoga is a unique method that combines movement with breathing and meditation techniques that calm the spirit and balance us emotionally. In Thermana, we practice traditional Indian yoga, which is adapted to the knowledge and abilities of the practitioners.
