In the last century, ayurvedic science from India is increasingly spreading to the Western world. The ancient Indian science of life is a system that improves health and general well-being and teaches us that balance is the basic principle of health. Daily adherence to ayurvedic teachings gradually leads to a healthier life.

Ayurveda and yoga stem from the same philosophy, but ayurveda aims primarily at dharma (living the right way) and yoga at moksha (enlightenment). Both sciences are practical systems, and their approach treats the human body, mind and consciousness holistically.


Balance of doshas brings health, imbalance brings disease

Doshas are energies that permeate the body and mind, each with its own purpose. There are three doshas in each one of us, but the relationship between them depends on the individual - the relationship determines what the constitution of our organism will be. Vata, pita and kapha are the three doshas - the three energies essential for the healthy functioning of the various systems in the body and mind. The three vital energies perform specific functions in the body and do not work in isolation. When all the three doshas are in harmony, then we speak of perfect health. Then we are strong, we have a healthy appearance, the functioning of the organs is perfect and our life will be long. When the doshas are not in balance, disease sets in.

Three doshas

Each of the doshas is formed by two of the five elements (fire, air, earth, ether and water), the building blocks of all matter.

Vata is the dosha of movement. The elements that make up the vata dosha are air and ether. Vata is the most important dosha in the body and mind because it represents the force of all kinds of movement and senses. The center of the vata is the large intestine.

Pitta is the dosha of transformation. The elements that make up the pitta dosha are fire and water. In the body, pita is responsible for all transformations (for example, digestion), and it also takes care of internal heat. The center of the pita is the stomach and small intestine.

Kapha is the material dosha. The elements that make up the kapha dosha are earth and water. Kapha gives the body structure, strength, has lubricating and cooling properties, and takes care of resistance as well as recovery. The center of kapha is the stomach and chest.

The ayurvedic way of life consists of a certain diet, regular and moderate physical exercise (yoga), meditation, relaxation, breathing exercises and other techniques that should help a person harmonize mind, body and spirit.

With the answers to the questionnaire, prepared very carefully in our center, the ayurvedic consultant will first determine which of the doshas dominates your constitution. He will assess your problems and then suggest therapy to balance the dosha. He will ask you questions about your lifestyle, diet, personal and professional life, as well as your health status. In ayurveda, illness is considered a sign that there is an imbalance in the body, so the therapist works to eliminate health problems and take care of your long-term health.

All treatments in our ayurvedic center are based on traditional methods of Indian science, on an individual approach and holistic treatment of the individual. Individual therapies are determined by the ayurvedic doctor at the initial consultation based on your dosha type.

Ayurvedic nutrition as medicine

In ayurveda, food is considered the most important medicine. According to tradition, in addition to what we consume, how we consume it is also very important. A true ayurvedic balanced meal is enriched with herbs and spices that improve taste, stimulate the digestive fire, improve digestibility and absorption of ingredients.

Ayurvedic medicine always emphasises cooking skills with herbs and spices that are appropriate for the individual. A dish prepared in this way is no longer lunch, it is medicine. 

With the correct combination, amount of food and certain parts of the day when food is consumed, we can maintain internal balance or even correct the imbalance that occurred during a period of unhealthy life.

What and how we eat greatly affects our health. Agni or digestive fire affects the digestion of not only food but also thoughts, feelings and emotions. Ayurveda invites us to give up bad habits such as eating fast food and processed food.

Ayurvedic diet

Some principles of Ayurvedic food:

  • In the morning on an empty stomach, drink a small glass of warm water up to 2 dcl, to which you can add a few drops of lime.
  • You eat when you really feel hungry. Better to skip a meal if you still have undigested food in your stomach.
  • Take your time. Eat sitting down.
  • Eat in moderation. Overeating extinguishes agni and produces ama.
  • Do not eat food 3 hours before going to bed, as it has a bad effect on sleep and digestion.
  • Buy fresh, organic, unprocessed foods.
  • Do not eat or drink anything that is too hot or too cold. Do not put ice in the drink.
  • Eat slowly and enjoy the food you eat.
  • Do not mix raw and cooked foods in one meal.
  • The type of food also depends on the season, time of day and life period. Meals should be rich and nutritious in winter, light and cooling in summer. The most abundant meal should be lunch.
  • Avoid certain food combinations because they are difficult to digest and this weakens the agni. Try to avoid the combination of hot and cold food, cold food in winter, the combination of milk with fruit, fish, meat.
  • Don't eat when you're angry.
  • Devote one day a week to only liquid food to improve digestion and cleanse the bowel.
  • Use spices, especially turmeric, cardamom, coriander, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper.
  • Enjoy herbal teas and fruit juices, but avoid coffee and carbonated drinks.
  • Cereals and legumes should be well cooked.

Ayurvedic massage

Ayurvedic massage is only one of the important ways of achieving health. The massage is performed by an experienced therapist using warm herbal oils. Massage is a treatment method that maintains the balance of energies in the body, the balance between vata, pitta and kapha. Different herbal warm oils are used in this type of massage. The type of massage and the type of oil used depends on each individual.

The most famous ayurvedic massages, which are also performed in our ayurvedic center, are shirodhara and abhyanga.

Abhyanga is a classic oil massage of the whole body. All oil massages are beneficial for the vata because they moisturize and soothe the nervous system, relieve pain and stiffness in the joints, strengthen the immune system and regulate hormones. Therapeutic massage relieves stress and strengthens the nervous system.

Shirodhara therapy is a blessing to calm the mind and restore the whole body. The word comes from two Sanskrit words: Shiro, meaning head, and dhara, meaning flow. The procedure therefore means pouring warm oil on the forehead in a continuous stream. Shirodhara has a powerful effect on the mind, acting on the deepest layers of our brain and stimulating the endocrine system, the pituitary and pineal glands and regulating neurotransmitters. It enables deep relaxation, improves concentration and sleep, relieves headaches and depression. Improves memory, lowers high blood pressure, improves vision and hearing. Like most ayurvedic massages and therapies, it naturally slows down aging.

In addition to accommodation in the hotel and half board, it includes 2 individual yoga lessons with an Indian yoga master every day, one ayurvedic classic massage of the whole body - abhyanga, one healing steam bath, as well as unlimited access to the swimming pools, where you will enjoy the beneficial thermal water under glass dome and relaxed in the sauna center.
