The numerous certificates and the wide variety of services we offer to our guests prove that we are committed to sustainable tourism in various fields, from the environmental, economic and socio-cultural development of tourism.
We understand the importance of preserving the natural environment, which is why we place great emphasis on reducing energy and water consumption, pollution and waste.
In 2010 and 2019, we were awarded the EU Marjetica label, which is considered an official environmental label in the European Union and in Slovenia and represents environmentally friendly operations. Companies that have been awarded the label strive to reduce air and water pollution, use energy more efficiently, reduce pollution of the environment and surroundings, and use organically produced food.
We are an associate member of the initiative "Less plastic, more sustainability" and a partner of the collective brand "Okusiti Laško", which emphasizes local suppliers and the top quality of products of local origin. We try to include locally grown foods as much as possible in our dishes and menus. Our drinks and dishes, including the house dessert and the Laško dessert Laško honeycake , have received the "Taste Laško" quality mark.

We protect the natural resources that surround us, including the thermal springs that form the foundation of our operations. Managing these resources wisely, carefully monitoring and reducing our environmental footprint, and pursuing sustainable development at all levels of our operations – all of the above has been and will continue to be our sustainability commitment in the future.
We have already taken many sustainable steps. One of many is caring for the trees of the future. The first “tree of the future” was symbolically planted in October 2022 by the Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Mr. Matjaž Han, thus announcing the start of the Thermana initiative, aimed at companies and individuals, with whose help we will plant the trees of the future.
The importance of trees and Therman's campaign to plant trees of the future is multifaceted. They will contribute to maintaining the vitality of our centuries-old park.
With a thoughtful selection of tree species resistant to climate change, these trees will contribute to the cooling of our space in the future and thus create a more human-friendly environment.
According to many experts, planting trees is one of the few nature-friendly tools that humanity has at its disposal to cool the planet.
Last but not least, the trees of the future in the Health Park will also play an awareness-raising and educational role and motivate us as a society to take a sustainable step forward for a better future.
The purpose of planting such trees is a small but important step towards alleviating the unpleasant consequences of climate change, which unfortunately are becoming an increasingly frequent companion of our lives.
One of the few readily available tools that we as humanity have in the fight against increasingly intense global warming is planting "trees of the future" - trees adapted to temperature changes and trees that will contribute to cooling the atmosphere.
Climate change dictates the planting of new, different types of trees in gardens, parks and cities. Changes are happening before our eyes. Projections made by the Environment Agency of the Republic of Slovenia show that temperatures will rise by 2 to 4 °C in the next twenty years. Ten years ago, there were 26 hot days in Ljubljana, when the temperature rose above 30 °C during the day.
Projections made by Slovenian meteorologists show that according to a moderately optimistic scenario, the number of hot days will increase by eleven by the end of the century, and double according to a pessimistic scenario. As trends and projections indicate that in a few decades we will be living in a climate with significantly more summer heat and drought, trees are one of the few tools we have at our disposal to make life in cities more bearable.
The thermal camera shows that the temperature measured on the sunny sidewalk is 20 °C higher than the temperature measured next to it in the shade of a tree. If we want to continue to live in cities in the summer with a fairly good quality, air conditioners will not help us with this. When trees evaporate water, heat is used, so trees also actively cool their surroundings.
Since today we are planting trees that will shade and cool the built environment in fifty years, we must now ask ourselves which tree species and varieties to plant. The living conditions for trees are getting tougher, so we cannot afford to count only on the tree species that are now dominant. It is necessary to choose the trees of the future.

The first "tree of the future" has been planted in the Spa Park. Planted by the Minister of Economic Development and Technology of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Matjaž Han, on October 14, 2022.
A deciduous tree with a wide branched crown that grows from 15-25 m high. The leaves are arranged alternately, heart-shaped or triangular rounded, silvery white and hairy on the underside, with a strongly toothed leaf margin.
The flowers are pale yellow, strongly scented, in clusters of 3 to 10 in July. The fruit is a dry, spherical nut. Adaptable to a wide range of soils, it prefers moist, fertile, well-drained, loamy soils. Very tolerant of drought and urban pollution.
Planted on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Assembly of Members of the Chamber of Accounting Services in October 2022.
Ambrosia is a deciduous tree with very small and barely noticeable flowers that bloom in the month of May. The glossy green leaves are 5-lobed, similar to maple leaves, and turn dark reddish crimson in autumn. It grows up to 20 m in height, the width of the crown is 10 m.
Canopy pyramidal to oval. The bark on the trunk is deeply furrowed longitudinally, which is an attractive decoration and specialty of ambrosia in winter. Young branches light brown, with corky winged outgrowths. Round decorative fruits appear in autumn. Slow growth. Resistant to urban environments and floods.

It thrives best in sunny to partially shaded locations and in soils that are not poor in nutrients, are slightly moist and well-drained. Tolerates both acidic, neutral and alkaline soils.
Since photinia is more suitable for areas with mild winters, in the past we could see it mostly only in Primorska, but in recent years it can be seen more and more often in the gardens of central Slovenia, where it also grows well due to less and less severe winters.
Fortini tolerates heat well and is undoubtedly a suitable tree of the future, which will contribute to the cooling of the atmosphere.

Gogi's Grove is a tree plantation created by the Goran Dragić Foundation and numerous sponsors who support the Goran Dragić Basketball Camp project. The tree plantation consists of trees of the future – ornamental pears and field maples, which have found their place in the Laško Spa Park.
5 decorative pears symbolize the basketball five, while 3 field maples represent the players on the bench and team spirit. Gogi's grove, which will create an exceptional natural shade over the years, is not only a rich park, but outside the basketball court and represents the symbolism of sports, team spirit and bonding in a sustainable way.
