Laško retirement home is a unit of Thermana d.d., and has been operating since 2001.
We are a provider of institutional care for the elderly, known for its high quality of service, professional staff, homely accommodation and individual approach. We have a concession to provide institutional care for the elderly for a total of 165 residents.
Our mission is to provide high quality services in primary and social care, nursing and rehabilitation. Our main guiding principle in caring for our residents is to plan services individually for each resident, trying to be as close as possible to their wishes and needs.
We are located in a pleasant environment in the immediate vicinity of Thermana, d.d.. The house is surrounded by walking paths that lead to the spa park and the city center. There is a well-organized connection with public transport.
The home has 77 rooms. Of these, we have 13 single rooms, 42 double rooms and 21 triple rooms, as well as one nurturing oasis. Each room has its own bathroom and is equipped with a call system, direct telephone line, TV and air conditioning.
Spominčica Household Unit is intended for residents with dementia, who need a special individual approach, guidance and personal management. The household unit includes a kitchen with a common area where various activities take place on a daily basis. The household unit is located on the ground floor, and residents have access to a pleasant and securely fenced lawn. The residents of the unit are provided with a psychosocial concept of care based on acceptance of the actual condition of the person with dementia. The staff apply the principles of validation in their work, giving validity to the person with dementia and accompanying him/her on his/her journey. Residents of the household unit are involved in organised activities on a daily basis, such as walks, exercise, memory training activities, household activities and more. They are treated by a general practitioner and receive regular follow-up by a specialist psychiatrist.
As one of the few, we can offer residents with severely advanced dementia the opportunity to stay in a nurturing oasis.
The nurturing oasis is a carefully designed sensory space where light, colour, aroma and music are used to appeal to the senses of the residents. The nursing staff make residents feel comfortable and safe by working in a personalised way.
Throughout our operation, we have been working in a socially beneficial way, because we are aware that our role is also to educate, advise and inform the elderly and other interested people from the local and wider community. We want to contribute to creating a friendly environment for older people.
In 2018, we obtained the title Dementia friendly spot and thus became one of the places where the elderly and their relatives can get the necessary information and guidance.
